UBC Volleyball Club Night

On Friday night, the UBC Men’s Volleyball team will honour graduating fifth-year senior and Apex 17U Boys coach Blair Bann, as well as setter Ryan Zwarich. Friday and Saturday will mark the last two matches of Blair’s career, as his eligibility is up following this season. Blair is the reigning and 2-time CIS Libero of the Year, and a 3-time winner of the Canada West Libero of the Year. He already holds the Canada West record for most digs in a career with 977 and has 4 more matches to add to this total (the 2nd most has 738).

It is also Club Night at War Memorial Gym, where all volleyball clubs in the Lower Mainland are invited to show their support for the Thunderbirds as they fight for playoff positioning in the tough Canada West conference.

The #2 nationally ranked UBC Women’s team will play at 6:00 PM vs #6 Regina, while the men play at 8:00 PM versus the same Regina Cougars.

The women’s team will also be honouring their fifth-year players, national team member Jen Hinze, and team captain Lauren Whitehead.

All Apex members are encouraged to come! Just tell the box office that you are a member of Apex and you will receive 50% off admission.

Ice Breaker Skate

Attention all members of the club! We are holding our annual Ice Breaker Skate event at the Killarney Community Centre Ice Rink on Wednesday, December 29, from 3:00PM – 4:30PM.

There is no cost to skate, but you will need to rent skates if you don’t have any. Skate rental is $2.

Also, please bring a canned food item for our annual Canned Food Drive (or donate $1 if you would like).

Another reminder: if you owe your coaches team fees or forms, please bring them.

There will be door prizes to win and fun had by all! See you there!

Apex Team Meetings

The following are the times for the Apex Team Meetings. All meetings will be held in room C109 (beside the C Gym) at Killarney Secondary School. Each meeting is scheduled for 30 minutes, but may last longer depending on the team.

Please remember that you must bring your team fees and the completed package. Also, brainstorm a team name for your team, as it will be discussed. Sign up for an account in the forums. Lastly, please wear loose clothing as you will be trying on uniforms, t-shirts, longsleeves, and sweats.
