18U Explosion Finishes with Gold

A long season of practices, road trips, and team bonding proved to be successful as Apex Explosion 18U finished first in Division 2, Tier 2 at the 2011 17/18U Canadian Open. This is their second consecutive GOLD MEDAL won at Nationals, moving up a tier this year! They fought a long hard battle coming in 2nd for their first day of pool play and 3rd in their power pool on the second day. On day 3, they played rivals Synergy and knocked them out 2-1 in the quarter finals. They went on to defeat Kamloops in the semi finals. The Sackville Sonics gave them a run for their money in the final gold medal match, but Explosion prevailed to win 15-9 in the 3rd set. The team came together, fought hard, and played the best they have played together all season long. Amazing plays, digs and retrievals were made that ooh’d and ahh’d the crowds. Their coaches have never been more proud.

Coaches James, Corinna, Dawn and Jess would like to congratulate the girls on a well-deserved Gold medal win at Nationals. Way to go Girls! Best of luck to you all in your future endeavors and never lose your passion for volleyball.
