More Medals for U15 Ice and U16 Vitality
2 of 4 of Apex’s U15 and U16 teams finished off their seasons with wins at the Western Canadian Open in Calgary May long weekend.
The U15 Apex Ice girls team capped off an exciting weekend, defeating the WHAM! Prime from Taber, Alberta 2-0 (25-23, 25-15) to win the bronze medal in division 2 tier 2 (43rd overall of 87 teams).
The U16 Apex Vitality girls also won the bronze medal, in division 4 tier 1, beating the FOG Wild from Edmonton in 2 highly contested sets, 25-23, 25-23.
Both teams also won medals at their respective provincial championships.
The U16 Apex Poke almost won a bronze of their own in the division 2 tier 2, losing by a measly 2 points to the Alouettes from Weyburn, Saskatchewan 2-1 (23-25, 25-16, 13-15).
The U16 Aces had a fun weekend, but with 5 players unable to play due to other commitments or injury, settled for a 5th place tie in division 1 tier 4.
