U14 Boom Finish Tied for 5th in Canada
The Apex Boom U14 boys team went into the playoff round at the Western Canadian Open in Abbotsford this morning with high hopes – 3 wins equalled a national championship, 2 equalled a medal, while a single loss would end their season. Unfortunately, it was the latter that occured. Matched up against eventual silver medalists Winman Attack, Boom was unable to generate any type of sustained momentum, dropping both sets quickly 25-9, 25-14, leaving them tied with 2 Winman teams, and a NAVC team at 5th position. Storm from Aurora, Ontario won the tournament over Winman Attack 2-1 (and by a deuce in the deciding set). NAVC defeated Victoria for the bronze.
This marks the end of the season for our Boom boys, who compiled a 30-7 record, and had 3 tournament victories this year, along with a provincial bronze. Coach Kenny is very pleased with the team’s development and can’t wait to get things going again come December.
